How to Wear:

Short Booties & Jeans….

The idea to write about this came from a co-worker who said she didn’t know how to style her short booties… but when I saw her wearing them, she had totally gotten it right! You’ve got this girl - so just give it a try. Short booties are the easiest to style in my opinion, because you have way more styling options than with tall boots. You just have to play around with the different booties and jeans you have to figure out what looks you like.

There are so many variations for this trend - you can wear jeans rolled up above the bootie, tucked in to your bootie, rolled up and tucked in (see top left picture), or even over the top of the boot if the bottom of the jeans have a fun distressed, frayed, or bell bottom hem that you want to show off.

Play off of the top of the boot and the bottom of the pant and you can never go wrong. I think the only “rule” or tip I can give is to remember to give balance to the outfit. Never go too crazy with both.

Okay, admittedly this is where it gets a bit trickier. You can’t wear just booties and jeans… there’s something else that has to be factored in too. The top. Don’t forget to balance the shirt you pair into the outfit too to achieve a great overall look.

Here’s what I mean by this:

If my jeans have a fun hem, but I also want to wear a loud bootie, I will want to go with a simple tee. If the bootie has cut outs, embellishments, a buckle, design, etc, I think keeping the hem of your jeans straight or tucked in helps to not distract from that detail. If my jeans and top are on the simpler side, I like to add some detail by cuffing the hem of my jeans. If my top is a turtle neck, or I’m wearing a big sweater, I think it’s best to play off that and create some skin space by rolling up my jeans a bit higher than the top of the boot to show my ankles a bit. Check out the pictures above for examples of this. In my mind, balance is all about making sure each part of your body isn’t overwhelmed with fabric or details.

Remember that creating space between your pant’s hem and the top of your bootie is not only trendy, but an easy way to help with proportion. Showing a bit of skin at your ankles is a great way break up an outfit and also elongate your legs! Trust me, this short girl knows those tricks LOL. Those are just some ideas.. Just play and always have fun with it!

What’s your favorite way to wear short booties?
